So how do you design your web page? Reasearch has shown that people visiting web sites have predictable patterns and expectations. They will scan a web page in the same order.
- Top Left
- Just under Top Left
- Top Middle
- Center Page
- Bottom Center Page
- Bottom Left
- Right Side from Bottom to Top
Web site visitors also expect to find things in certain areas of a page
- Logo - Top Left
- Menu - Left Side (second choice Center Under Logo)
- Contact Information - Top Right then Bottom Center
- Headline - Top Center
- Page Copy - Center Page
It's not entirely against the rules to design your page in some other manner. Just expect your customers to have a little more trouble finding things if they're not where they expect them.
